Puszta
The Hungarian Plain, called the Puszta, takes up a large part of the country. The "Puszta" is a unique vast flat land with its whitewashed farmhouse walls, fields of grains and bright red paprika, sweep wells, thatched roadside inns "csárdas", galloping horses and stud farms, authentically presenting the traditions of the peoples of the Puszta, their equestrian culture and the rough life in the Puszta.
Leave from Budapest by a chartered ‘nostalgic’ steamer train from the 1880`s and be greeted by young horsemen upon your arrival and take a horse-carriage to get to the horse farm.
The guests are welcomed with ’pálinka’ (apricot brandy) and ’pogácsa’ (small, salty scones). Next follows a horse show in the presentation of the ’Csikósok’ – the Hungarian term for cowboys, but they existed before the cowboys in America –, where they show off their skills with their horses: Puszta-four and Puszta five (riding 4-5 horses standing on their backs), horses lying on the ground (a situation completely alien to their nature, but very practical when hiding from the gendarmes in the Puszta).
After the horse show, the Puszta Olympics starts, games based on the traditions of the "Puszta" people, challenging your individual and team skills, problem solving abilities. The programme brings together group members in a light and easy way.
Concluding this fatiguing fun is a really Hungarian feast with goulash, stew, Hungarian meat specialties, desserts and plenty of wine.
